I recently heard a powerful truth: If you don't put something into action within 72 hours, you likely never will. Research and countless conversations with successful people back this up. They call it the 72-hour rule—when you start within those first 72 hours, your chances of success skyrocket by 90%.
Let's face it: our ideas are only as good as our willingness to act on them. My father, Charlie "Tremendous" Jones, put it best: "Everyone has a success mechanism and a failure mechanism. The failure mechanism goes off by itself. The success mechanism only goes off with a goal. Every time we write down and talk about a goal, we push the button to start the success mechanism."
So, what does this mean for you? Time is critical. It's easy to get bogged down tweaking, over-planning, or trying to reach perfection, but guess what? Perfect doesn't exist—only progress does.
Stop fussing with your website and go get a client. Quit fine-tuning that manuscript and finish the book so someone can read it. My father's 7 Laws of Leadership in Life is Tremendous, emphasize "Use it or Lose it" and "Production to Perfection" for a reason. If you don't put your talents to work, they wither. And no one achieves perfection this side of Heaven, so just do it—and then do it again and again until you get closer to the mark!
The truth is, talking and explaining don't create success—application does. Less talk, more action, less tweaking, more doing.
Take Action Within the Next 72 Hours:
- Write Down Your Goal: Put it on paper. Define exactly what you want to achieve—it's the first step to activating your success mechanism.
- Set a Small First Step: Break your goal into a quick, manageable action you can complete today. For example, send that email, make that call, or write the first page.
- Announce It: Share your goal with someone who will hold you accountable. It could be a friend, mentor, or even your social media followers—let them in on your journey.
- Schedule It: Block out time in the next three days to work on this goal. Even 15 minutes dedicated to it will set the wheels in motion.
- Keep Track of Progress: Note each action you take toward your goal, no matter how small. As you keep moving forward, you'll see momentum build.
- Reflect on Purpose: Take a moment to remember why this goal matters to you. When your "why" is clear, your commitment to action strengthens.
- Celebrate Small Wins: Don't wait for the end result to celebrate—recognize each milestone and let it fuel your next step.
Let's hit that 72-hour mark with intention. You've got a tremendous success mechanism waiting to be triggered. Push that button!
Here's to taking action and creating a life that's not just tremendous but unstoppable.
Tremendously yours,
Tracey
