I am involved in monthly book discussions through a tremendous prison ministry called LIFE, Inc., which stands for Leading Inmates in Faith and Education. The organization's leader, Marcia Sinkovitz, and I witness the price of letting emotions override minds and their consequences. Although these men accept God's gift of grace, own their actions, and seek restoration, the better path is to avoid poor emotional regulation altogether.

Suspicious Minds

We've all been there. We have someone in our lives, and we become intertwined. Then, things start giving us pause and concern. We brush these feelings off or acquiesce when conflict arises. We keep coming back, hoping our suspicious minds will be wrong and all will be right. But that never happens. And there always comes a time when you've gone too far, and the only thing left to sell is your livelihood, life, or soul.

Can We Train Loyalty?

During one of my coaching calls last week, my entrepreneurial client remarked, "We can train for everything except loyalty." Wow, I had never heard this concept expressed that way. I immediately began to digest and unpack his words. Next, I asked several others, whose opinions I regularly seek out, what they thought. The consensus was that we should model and encourage loyalty, which is a given. But if a leader models and inspires loyalty, does that guarantee its reciprocation? Is loyalty a give-to-get kind of thing, or is it something that emerges internally regardless of the context?

Today is Friday, the most yearned for day of the week. We even have a unique acronym for it, TGIF. But while Fridays are tremendous, there is one Friday in particular that the other 51 cannot compete with. That is Good Friday. I always thought good was not good enough to describe what happened on the cross. But God declared His six days of creation week as good, so I guess if it's good enough for God, it's good enough for me!

Are You Reason-Able?

When Everything Means Nothing
